Engineering

Stores engineered to convert and retain.

A beautiful Shopify store that loses customers at checkout is an expensive failure. We engineer the full journey - from product discovery and collection browsing through to a frictionless checkout, post-purchase flow and email sequences that bring them back. Every decision is tied to conversion rate and LTV, not aesthetics alone.

What we do

The full e-commerce stack, executed end to end.

Shopify design & development

Custom Liquid themes built from scratch or heavily modified from a base theme. Product pages, collection pages and homepage - all designed for conversion, not just catalogue presentation. Shopify 2.0 with Online Store Editor support.

Custom checkout & payments

Shopify Checkout Extensions for branded, high-converting checkout experiences. Stripe integration for non-Shopify stores. Upsell and cross-sell at checkout - implemented properly, not as an intrusive afterthought.

Post-purchase & retention flows

Order confirmation, shipping updates, review requests and win-back sequences built in Klaviyo or Shopify Email. Loyalty programme integration, referral mechanics and subscription upsells - the infrastructure that turns first-time buyers into regulars.

Our approach

Audit to optimised - four focused stages.

01

Audit

We analyse your existing store (or competitor benchmarks for new stores): conversion funnel drop-off, cart abandonment rate, page speed, mobile UX and email performance. This surfaces the highest-impact problems to solve before we write a line of code.

02

Design

High-fidelity Figma designs for every key template: homepage, collection, product, cart, checkout and transactional emails. Mobile-first because the majority of e-commerce traffic is mobile. Every element justified by conversion data, not personal preference.

03

Build

Custom Shopify theme development in a private GitHub repo with a staging store for review. Payment integration tested end to end with real transactions. Email flows built, tested on multiple clients and connected to your Shopify product data.

04

Optimise

Post-launch we track conversion rate, AOV, repeat purchase rate and email revenue. We run A/B tests on high-traffic templates and iterate based on data. Monthly optimisation reports give you a clear picture of what's working and what we're testing next.

Where we are

A studio in Lisbon, working worldwide.

We're based on Rua das Trinas in Lisbon and we like meeting clients face to face when it helps - but the work has gone out to 15 countries, and a good part of it is multilingual, because most of our clients sell into more than one market.

You get senior people only. No juniors hidden behind a project manager, no account handler relaying messages to someone you never meet. Robin has been doing this for over twenty years - senior roles at Cancer Research UK and MyVoucherCodes, and Search Marketing Account Director for Four Seasons Hotels across EMEA. In 2025 the studio took two Media Innovator Awards, including Best Digital Marketing Agency in Portugal.

Frequently asked

The questions we always get.

Which ecommerce platform do you use?

Depends on what you're selling. Shopify is right for a lot of businesses and we'll say so rather than talk you into something bespoke to inflate the invoice. When a store needs something Shopify can't do - unusual pricing, complex integrations, a custom checkout - we build it. The wrong platform costs more to escape than to choose properly.

How much does an online store cost?

More than a marketing site, because there's more to build: catalogue, checkout, payments, tax, shipping rules, integrations. Our projects start at €4,500 and stores generally sit above that. You get a real number in the first conversation, before anything starts.

Can you handle Portuguese and EU tax rules?

Yes. VAT and OSS for EU cross-border selling, invoicing that satisfies Portuguese requirements, and the accounting integrations to go with it. It's unglamorous and it's the part that causes real problems if it's wrong.

Will my store show up on Google?

SEO is built in, not sold afterwards - product structured data, clean URLs, fast pages and category pages built around what people search for. Ecommerce SEO is its own discipline and most store builds ignore it entirely.

Can the store run in more than one language?

Yes, and for a lot of Portuguese businesses that's the whole point - selling beyond a market of ten million people. Each language edition gets proper copy and hreflang so it ranks in its own market rather than competing with your other pages.
